If a text, a process or a story is difficult to put into words, an animation could be just the way to go!
We designed and animated a strategy film for the employees of the Nationalstrassen Betrieb. Their motto is: «Our mobility your experience». We aimed for a colourful visualisation to be able to communicate the strategic content in a sympathetic and approachable way.
Research suitable visual material for the submission of the sketches.
The process of an animated film begins with finding out how written material could be visualised. Passages to be communicated are recorded, put together and ideas for a story are developed from them. Then a storyboard (script) is sketched, which explains the story and individual scenes visually.
Determine the colour world and create the first mood images.
An animatic – also called a «story reel» – is created on the basis of the scenes. An animatic is a preliminary stage of the realised film, whereby the individual images of the storyboard are joined together in sequence to gain a sense of the duration and rhythm of the film. Journeys across the images as well as zoom-ins and zoom-outs can be easily stimulated with digital editing programmes.
Develop and elaborate the protagonists (characters) of the explanatory film.
We create our animated films with different programmes (Adobe After Effects, ToomBoom, etc.).
Once all the graphic elements and illustrations have been designed and digitised, the characters can come alive. Compared to classic film communication, characters (illustrations) are always sympathetic. Every viewer should not feel pressured to identify with the characters. However, they trigger positive emotions and can act dynamically due to their exaggerated portrayal.
Sit back and enjoy. Have fun watching!
